A day in the life of Yorston Lodge
The start of the Yorston day
Our doors open at 8 am every morning, welcoming early risers to our Early Morning Club, where friends, games and plentiful reading opportunities await.
The school day formally starts at 9 am, with the majority of pupils having been dropped at the school entrance, class registers are then called at 0915am and lessons commence.
With a focus on small class sizes, pupils study a broad range of academic and co-curricular subjects, within a stimulating learning environment.
Lunchtime at Yorston
Encouraging responsibility and developing leadership skills from a young age, our Year 6 prefects support lunchtime duties by supervising the younger children and assisting those who need a little extra support.
After lunch is finished they help clean up and take pride in supporting the younger children. As well as helping to foster the nurturing, caring atmosphere our school is known for, we believe this is reciprocally beneficial; the older children learn responsibility and the younger children enjoy the interaction.
Afternoons at Yorston
Afternoon lessons start at 1:20 pm. With exclusive use of the sporting facilities just minutes away at Egerton FC, every afternoon, this is when our PE and games lessons take place.
The school day officially ends at 3:15 pm for the infants and 3:25 pm for the juniors, however more than half of our students stay in school to enjoy one of the broad range of after-school activities on offer.
After school clubs and care
Beyond after school clubs, we offer support with a thriving homework club for pupils in the Junior Years (Years 3 – 6) and drawing, reading and games activities on offer for the infants. If the pupils are not taking part in any specific activities the infant pupils draw, read or play games, while the juniors will go to homework club.
Finally, the school doors close at 6 pm after a long but happy day.
